Virgin Media has criticised the websites that offer the ability to test your broadband speed. They believe that the results are not completely true.

The company has slammed results that have been released by many leading websites claiming that they are inconsistent adn inaccurate. Virgin have spent a lot upgrading their infrastructure and even offer speeds of up to 50Mbps in some areas.

Although Virgin was disappointed by most of the results that were published online, they were happy with some of the websites stating that some were able to more accurately assess the true speeds that were achieved.

A spokesman for Virgin Media has stated that they are concerned that there are sites suggesting that they are experts in this area that are simply providing false information. The company is pleased that many sites are reacting to its concerns and stated that it is happy to provide assitance with the websites that wish to update their services.

Many of the sites have backed Virgin Media’s desire to ensure that the accurate speeds are represented on the web. Many consumers are not receiving the speeds that they are expecting and many operators are being accused of misleading consumers. Because of this, it is commendable that Virgin Media are keen to push for the true speeds to be represented.
