Project Kangaroo was the joint venture between the UK’s terrestrial television networks to offer a broadband TV service. Millions of pounds were invested in the project and the UK mobile operator Orange is investigating the possibility of purchasing the technology that was created as a result of the project.

The project was scrapped as the competition commission felt that it would dominate the landscape and leave little room for their competitors. Because of this, they are looking to sell the technology.

Orange is not the only company interested in purchasing the technology. Orange has been rolling out TV services across Europe for a while now and they have a huge number of subscribers in France alone. They would like to incorporate the technology to improve on the service.

They do not currently have plans to launch the service in the UK, although this is expected to change once we reach the other side of the recession.
