Figures have just been released to show that Orange has seen a huge increase in its mobile broadband subscriptions.
As previously reported, 2008 has seen huge growth in mobile broadband subscriptions and this is looking set to continue into 2009. Key drivers for the growth include the reduction in prices and increase in data allowances along with desire for a more convenient and portable broadband connection. All of the major mobile phone networks now offer mobile broadband services and the number of deals and offers has grown along with the service.
Another driver for the growth has been the amount invested in advertising and promoting the services to the general public. All of the providers have been competing for customer share by offering aggresive promotions and price cuts.
Orange has been criticised for not investing as much in promoting its mobile broadband service as it has in its other services. Even so, they have managed to achieve a huge growth in the number of customers they have signed up to the service. Digital Media Service has reported that Orange has received an increase of 2139% of customers signing up for its mobile broadband service.
This is great news for Orange and great news for the industry. It demonstrates the market demand for such services.
