Many industry commentators have been adding their views on how governments should play their part in the movement of broadband Internet into the future. Their main suggestion is that government bodies reduce the regulations that are forced upon the operators.
Next generation broadband in the UK and across the continent will require relaxed government attitudes so that the required investment can take place. This was stated in findings that were uncovered following interviews of chief executives of many of the mobile operators. Many of the UK’s major networks were involved in the research.
Barcelona recently hosted a major global conference focussed on mobile communications. It was at the conference where the announcements were made. The head of one of Europe’s largest networks stated that it is vital that the communications firms are provided the opportunities to grow as they require. The only way that this can be done is with the allowances of the governments across the UK and Europe.
If regulations are relaxed then they will create the necessary conditions for the best mobile broadband providers to make the extremely large investments required to take them to the next level. This will help the economies by creating jobs but also providing an environment for business to remain competitive.
The networks have stated that they are not looking for public money but the assurances that they will be able to make the required decisions without being limited by government regulation. This comes in line with the Digital Britain requirements as UK mobile broadband networks will require sufficient upgrades to permit them to provide the minimum connection speeds set out by the report.
