A survey has discovered that the current recession that is affecting the UK is leaving many consumers unwilling to investigate upgrading their current Internet package. The recession is affecting people’s ability to switch to more costly high speed packages. Many are also coneerned about increasing their outgoings due to an uncertain job future.
It was found that the majority of respondents of the survey were not interested in accessing high speed next generation broadband services as the extra cost did not present them with a tangible benefit. Many are already struggling under the pressure of increased living costs.
An industry spokesman has suggested that the current situation in the economy is costing people more money and they just don’t want to upgrade to faster broadband speeds. It was also pointed out that an upgrade did not always mean an increased monthly expense. Also there are many other ways to gain faster speeds from existing connections such as ensuring wireless networks are not being illegally shared.
