There have been recent developments in the UK to find new methods for delivering broadband including laying cable in sewers removing the need to dig up the road. Brazil has gone one steo further. They have just received approval for their broadband companies to deliver Internet through their power lines.

This is not a new method as it is already used in many locations around the world. This could be one of the biggest implementations however. It offers a great method of providing Internet access at a much more cost effective level. There are some questions over exactly how it will be implemented. For example, the communications companies own the lines so will money have to be paid to them for the use of the lines.

There are still some questions over how exactly the lines will deliver Internet effectively alongside the electricity but it is believed that there shouldn’t be any major problems.
